How to Eject CD Drive if it Does not Work
Some times CD/DVD Drives get stuck and do not open or eject. This may be because either your drive is damaged or there is an Operating System lock. You can follow these steps to eject and get the trapped disc out.
1. Check for any Operating System locks on the device.
Check for any software running which locks the drive and shut it down. If you cannot find any such programs then reboot and try to eject while the system is rebooting. In linux try "eject" command.
2. Faulty eject button
The eject button in the drive may be faulty. Try eject from the "My Computer" page and right click and select "Eject".
3. Pin technique
If you have a small hole infront of the drive try inserting a pin into the hole and press. Please refer the Drive's manual for pictures and details on how to do this. Please insert a thin needle or a safety pin and press gently. This will normally eject your CD.
4. No power to computer or CD-ROM drive
See if the lights in the drive blinks. If there are no lights, open the cabinet and check the power to your drive. Try a different cable and make sure that it is cable is neatly connected.
5. Incompatibility with IDE / ATAPI interface
If you are unable to open the drive, attempt to temporarily disconnect the IDE cable to verify that you not experiencing an issue with an incompatibility between the CD-ROM and motherboard. Open the cabinet, remove the IDE Cable (Not the power cable) and see if it ejects. If the drive can be opened with the IDE / ATAPI cable disconnected, it is recommended you use the interface card supplied with the CD-ROM drive or the ATAPI interface on the sound card / motherboard.
